HandyFact - Buying a house
Things to consider:
-Buy a house in a popular neighborhood. Even if the house is
expensive, it will be easier to sell if you have to move.
-If you don't enjoy being a handyperson, buy a newer house rather than one that
needs constant maintenance.
-Buy a less expensive house than you think you can afford. You will always
have more expenses after the purchase than you had predicted.
-Instead of moving up to a larger home whenever you can afford to, wait
longer in-between upgrades. You will build more equity and save on
transaction costs.
-Before working with an agent, visit open houses to get a feel for what kind of
house you really want. You won't feel as pressured to make a commitment
that you may later regret.
-When considering a home located far from work, consider the time you spend
commuting. You may save on the payments, but consider the time you could
have spent with family and friends.
