HandyFact - How to Figure Baseball Stats:
Batting Average
Divide the number of Hits by the number of At Bats. (Example: You have 20 hits and you've at bat 60 official times.
Your batting average is .333.)
On Base Percentage
Total all the ways a person reaches base (by hits, walks, hit-by-pitch) then divide by total number of times
the batter has been at bat (whether they walk, sacrifice, hit-by-pitch).
Slugging Percentage
Take the number of singles (1 base) + the number of doubles (2 bases) + the number of triples (3 bases)
+ the number of home runs (4 bases) = total bases. Then divide by the number of At Bats.
Example: you have 11 singles, 5 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 home runs which equal 35 total bases. You have
60 At Bats, your slugging percentage is .583 .
Earn Run Average (ERA)
Take the number of earned runs allowed and Times by 9 (number of innings in a regulation game). Then
divide by the number of innings pitched. Example: You have allowed 2 runs in eight innings. 2 times 9 divided by 8 = 2.25
ERA.
